FLOOD RISK ASSESSMENT

The assessment of flood risk is a planning requirement when building in designated flood risk zones in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey.

For flood risk assessments in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland please contact us or our ROI/NI associate (Peter McAleer, www.pmcaleer.com) to progress your project.

TransTech has been providing coastal and fluvial flood risk assessment consultancy services since 2006 for sites potentially affected by high flows in rivers, streams, burns and/or elevated levels in freshwater waterbodies and/or coastal flooding from the sea.

During this time extreme coastal and fluvial flood level estimates have changed on a year by year basis in terms of storm surge and wave action and for freshwater watercourses the accepted methods for 1 in 100 year, 1 in 200 year, 1 in 500 year and 1 in 1000 year flood estimates. As a well established flood risk assessment consultancy we are constantly in tune with all of the flood risk estimation method changes and as such can provide an accurate prediction for flooding at your site to comply with current environment regulator/planning authority criteria.

We are proud of our:

  • Comprehensive experience and knowledge
  • Competitive rates
  • Dedicated customer support
  • Timely delivery – usually within 4 weeks of receiving all the required information

For Scotland our coastal and fluvial flood risk assessment consultancy work meets Scottish Planning Policy February 2010: Flooding and Drainage (formerly SPP7), PAN 69, Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) criteria and insurance company specifications.  For England and Wales our flood risk assessment services meet Planning Policy Statement 25 (PPS25, formerly PPG25), TAN 15, Environment Agency (EA) criteria and insurance company specifications.  For Northern Ireland the risk assessments meet PPS15/Rivers Agency criteria.  For the Republic of Ireland the flood risk assessment work complies with Office of Public Works and planning standards. For the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands coastal and fluvial flood risk assessment work complies with island regulator/planning authority criteria.

TransTech covers all aspects of flood risk assessment including site survey (for sites outside of Scotland we have a network of associate land surveyors who do this for us), liaison with your local environment regulator and planning authority, determination of historical flooding, flood water hydraulic modelling and report production for submission to regulators.

We can carry out coastal and/or fluvial flood risk assessment consultancy work for any type or scale of existing or proposed development from large developments involving a number of residential dwellings or an industrial development through to care homes, schools, social developments and single dwelling house plots.

This can range from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds depending on site-specific risks, the size and the complexity of the development.
